W.Bro. David Freeman z"l

FROM THE OBITUARY OF THE LATE W.BRO. DAVID FREEMAN BY R. W. BRO. DOV BERL HERMAN

I FIRST MET DAVID IN JUNE 1948, DURING THE FIRST CEASE-FIRE (IN THE WAR OF INDEPENDENCE OF ISRAEL), WHEN HE WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF JERUSALEM WITH HIS FAMILY. DAVID WAS A MAN OF PRINCIPLES. HE COULD NOT SUFFER INJUSTICE OR UNFAIRNESS TO ANYONE. HE WAS ALWAYS READY TO HELP AND ASSIST AND HE WAS OUTSTANDING IN MAINTAINING ALL THE PRINCIPLES OF THE MANY ORGANIZATIONS OF WHICH HE WAS A MEMBER, AND OF BEING A WONDERFUL EXAMPLE TO ALL OF US.

AS FAR AS MOUNT CARMEL LODGE IS CONCERNED, HE WAS THE FOUNDER JUNIOR WARDEN IN 1956 AND SENIOR WARDEN TO THE LATE EMANUEL SLONIM WHO WAS MASTER IN 1957. HE WAS MASTER IN 1958 AND THEN BECAME MY IMMEDIATE PAST MASTER IN 1959, WHEN I REACHED THE CHAIR. SINCE THEN HE WAS ALWAYS READY TO ASSIST IN ANY CAPACITY.
