FROM THE OBITUARY OF THE LATE MENASHE (MAX) SILVERSTONE BY R.W. BROTHER DOV BERL HERMAN

When Menashe passed away, we lost one of the brightest lights in Freemasonry in Israel. He was one of the stalwarts, in the formation of our sovereign Grand Lodge in 1953, and served in all the High Offices from Grand Treasurer to Grand Master in November, 1961. Likewise in Grand Chapter.

When Mount Carmel Lodge was consecrated in April ,1956 he was Grand Senior Warden.
He also acted as Installing Master of our first Worshipful Master, Bro. Isidore Covitt. In the three subsequent years he similarly Installed Emanuel Slonim, David Freeman and myself. On that occasion in 1959, I had the pleasure of bestowing Honorary Membership on him for his valuable services to the Lodge.
Menashe was always ready to assist and help whenever called upon. Always ready and able to assist and instruct, from his inexhaustible store of knowledge of Masonic history, ritual and principles. In fact, he was an example to us all as a perfect Mason.
